Chairman and Managing Director

Capt. Thomas Pinto is a master mariner with 35 years of experience in the shipping industry. He has been a master on various Indian and foreign vessels of different types and sizes, and worked for renowned international shipping companies until 1998. Thereafter, he took up a shore job as a marine superintendent with Mercator Lines Ltd. In 2002, with his invaluable experience in shipping, both at sea and on shore, Capt. Pinto decided to found SIS.


Executive Director

Dr. Leena Pinto completed her MD in Pathology from Mangalore University in 1988. Later, she worked as a lecturer in Lokmanya Tilak Memorial Medical College, Sion (Mumbai), and also established her own private practice in Mumbai. She has been associated with hands-on management at SIS.


Executive Director

Mr. Clayton Pinto was appointed Executive Director in April 2015. Prior to that, he supervised the chartering, S&P, technical and finance departments with assistance from the respective heads of departments. Clayton is a part of the management team that makes strategic decisions. He obtained a master's degree in International Shipping from the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.



Mr. Sujit Parsatwar is a finance professional with over three decades of experience in auditing, corporate finance, advisory, due diligence and management consulting, including teaching at reputed institutes. At SIS, right from inception, Mr. Parsatwar has supervised strategic decisions related to expansion and capital-asset acquisition. He plans and reviews the management of cash flow and makes important decisions on raising capital for acquiring vessels.


Independent Director

Mr. Mallya holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Mysore and a post-graduate diploma in industrial management from the Indian Institute of Science. He has served Bank of Baroda in the capacity of Chairman-cum- Managing Director for over four and half years. He was awarded 'Banker of the year' in 2010 and 2012 by Business Standard and in 2011 by Business World, considering his leadership and personal excellence in the role. He was also the chairman-cum- managing director of Bank of Maharashtra. Currently, he serves on the boards of many companies.


Independent Director

Mr. Kamath is a retired Deputy General Manager of Canara Bank. He has served Canara Bank for 39 years in various capacities. Thereafter, he joined Vishal Infrastructure Ltd., Bangalore, as General Manager (finance), a post he held for three years.


Independent Director

Capt. Rodrigues holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Madras. He has been a commercial airline pilot by profession for the past 25 years and is currently serving Jet Airways in the same capacity.


Nominee Director

Mr. Ravi Lekhrajani holds a bachelors' degree in Commerce, a master's degree in Business Management with a specialization in Finance, is a Cost Accountant from the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India and a Certified Public Accountant from the United States.
Mr. Lekhrajani manages the Indian subsidiary of the US-based Wayzata Investment Partners and is responsible for sourcing special situation investments in India. He has over fifteen years of private equity experience managing offshore funds in India.



Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Raja has been a pioneer in the modern shipping industry in India with over 35 years of industry experience. He was in charge of the Doha (Qatar) port for four years and provided all technical assistance to the port's maritime operations. Then, he served as a Senior Vice-President at Essar Shipping Ltd. Later, Mr. Raja joined HAL Offshore Ltd as a Senior Vice- President before moving to SIS as the CEO.
By virtue of this role, he heads the senior management and is ultimately responsible for the successful implementation of all processes and overall management of the company.


Vice-President, Operations

An alumnus of the prestigious T.S. Rajendra, Capt. Gondane has vast experience spanning more than twenty-five years sailing on crude oil tankers, oil and chemical product tankers, bulk carriers, general cargo vessels and containers. He started his career with the Shipping Corporation of India. He joined SIS in 2004 and has played a major operational role in transforming SIS into one of India's biggest tanker operating companies. His additional specialization in marine insurance, marine corrosion and arbitration make him an asset to the company.


Vice-President, Technical Management

Mr. Kadri has close to 30 years of shipping industry experience. He has sailed in different capacities on oil tankers, gas carriers and bulk carriers for V-Ships, one of the largest shipping-management companies in the world, for around a decade. After that, he joined their corporate office in Monaco as a technical superintendent, where he worked for five years. Mr Kadri joined SIS in 2010.


Vice-President, Commercial & Marketing

Capt. Gomes is a master mariner with over 20 years of experience. He was employed with K-Line Ship Management and K-Line Pte Ltd (KLPL) in Singapore and Varun Shipping in Mumbai. At KLPL, Capt. Gomes was a member of the emergency-response team, in addition to liaising closely with global oil majors, such as Chevron, Shell, and ExxonMobil. At Varun Shipping, he was General Manager of the Commercial Oil and Gas fleet and Offshore fleet, before joining SIS.

Capt. Alex Mathew

Asst. Vice-President, Commercial and Operations

Capt. Alex Mathew is a Master Mariner with over 20 years of experience in the maritime Industry. He sailed for 15 years on oil tankers, before diversifying into the shipping operations, logistics & marine insurance segments. Capt. Mathew has been involved with business handling & agency operations of chemical tankers and ISO tank containers for a global leader in the transportation and storage of specialty chemicals/bulk liquids. Prior to Seven Islands, He also worked with an emerging tanker owner, playing a pivotal role in fleet expansion, management & commercial operations. His experience also includes managing marine insurance for the fleet.


Asst. Vice-President, Finance and Accounting

Mr. Ashwin Raut holds a Bachelors' degree in Commerce from the University of Mumbai and is qualified as a Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountant of India. He has substantial experience as a key member of executive management teams with several companies in diverse areas covering financial management, accounting and taxation. As AVP-Finance and Accounting, Ashwin leads the accounting and finance team at SIS and oversees day-to- day financial activities in the company like accounting, financing, forecasting, taxation and strategic planning.


Designated Person Ashore, Company Security Officer and Head-QA & QC

Capt. Cheema has displayed adaptability and versatility in the ever changing contours of the shipping industry over a long period of time. He joined SIS in 2014 as a master on one of its vessels and then took up a shore job with the company. He has wide tanker experience on VLCCs, Aframaxes and product carriers. Capt. Cheema has also worked on various other types of vessels globally. He worked with Chevron, Univan, Mediterranean Shipping Company and Five Stars Shipping before joining SIS. At SIS, he works in the capacity of the Designated Person Ashore (DPA), Company Security Officer (CSO) and Head-QA & QC, looking after the safety, security, local & international compliance and quality aspects of all vessels of the company.


General Manager, Purchase

Mr. Sunny Pinto has over thirty years of experience in the area of electrical and compressor technology. He has been a part of Seven Islands since 2005. At SIS, he oversees all purchase, workshop planning and implementation tasks. He performs supplier selection, approval and negotiations while constantly looking to streamline the purchase process. He and his team of purchase managers and associates work closely with technical superintendents to ensure that the right commodities and appropriate quantities are delivered to the vessels on time.


General Manager, Fleet Personnel Manning & HRA

Ms. Smitha Peter heads the fleet personnel department and has been a part of the organization since inception. She has taken on various roles during her long association with the company. Right from the early days of SIS, she played the dual role of maintaining ISM documentation and certification as well as assisting in chartering of vessels. In 2015, she took on the new role of fleet personnel manager and in 2016, she took on the additional responsibility of managing human resources.


Company Secretary

Ms. Priyanka Sarda is an associate member of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India and holds a bachelor's degree in commerce and an L.L.B (General) degree from the University of Mumbai. During her career, she has handled various secretarial assignments and has acquired rich experience in corporate governance through her work with M/s. Pramod S. Shah & Associates, where she consulted for large organizations like the Bombay Stock Exchange and A.C.C.
Ms. Sarda has been performing compliance management at SIS by serving as a key managerial personnel since she joined the firm in 2015. With her proactive approach, knowledge and dedication, she plays a significant role as an accomplished corporate professional, handling her work profile efficiently.
