BOARD OF DIRECTORS

CAPT. THOMAS W. PINTO

Chairman and Managing Director

Capt. Thomas Pinto is the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of our Company. He has been the Chairman since incorporation, and became the Chairman-cum-Managing Director with effect from January 2004. He has received a certificate of competency as Master of a Foreign-Going Ship from the Government of India. He has over 30 years of experience in the shipping industry, and has held various positions such as master of vessels. Prior to incorporating our Company, he was a marine superintendent in Mercator Lines Limited.

DR. LEENA M. PINTO

Executive Director

Dr. Leena Pinto is an Executive, Whole-Time Director of our Company. She has been associated with our Company since May 2003. She has obtained a bachelor of medicine, bachelor of surgery degree in 1984 and a doctor of medicine degree in pathology in 1988. She has been registered under the Maharashtra Medical Council Act, 1965 since 1995 and has several years of experience in pathology.

MR. SUJIT G. PARSATWAR

Director

Mr. Sujit Parsatwar is a Non-Executive Director of our Company. He has been on our Board since June 2014. He has obtained a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in commerce from the University of Bombay. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is a finance professional and has been a partner in Parsatwar and Company, Chartered Accountants since March 02, 2004. He has experience in auditing, corporate finance, financial advisory, due diligence and management consulting. He has been associated with our Company since incorporation and has been involved in financial analysis, accounting review and tax consultancy.

MR. DEVADAS M. MALLYA

Independent Director

Mr. Devadas Mallya is a Non-Executive, Independent Director of our Company. He has been associated with our Company since October 2014. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Mysore and a post-graduate diploma in industrial management from the Indian Institute of Science. Prior to joining our Company, he served as Chairman-cum-Managing Director in Bank of Baroda. Presently, he serves on the board of companies such as Coffee Day Enterprises Limited.

Mr. MADHUKAR M. KAMATH

Independent Director

Mr. Madhukar Kamath is a Non-Executive, Independent Director of our Company. He has been associated with our Company since October 2014. He has obtained a bachelor’s degree in commerce from University of Mysore. Prior to joining our Company, he worked with Canara Bank for over 39 years and retired as Deputy General Manager.

CAPT. JOHN P. MENEZES

Independent Director

Capt. John Menezes has served on merchant ships from Cadet to Master. After quitting sea life, he has been a Nautical Surveyor, Marine Consultant and Expert Witness in several Maritime Arbitration cases at the National Level. He holds an educational degree in Humanities and a Master of Laws in Maritime Law from London Metropolitan University. Presently, he is a trustee and member of the Executive Board of the Nautical Institute, London and the chairman of the Nautical Institute, India SW branch, Kochi. Formerly, he has been a trustee of the Mangalore Port Trust and an Independent Director of Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL). He has been serving on the board of Seven Islands Shipping Limited since September 2018.

MR. RAVI G. LEKHRAJANI

Nominee Director

Mr. Ravi Lekhrajani is a Non- Executive, Nominee Director of our Company. He has been associated with our Company since June 2015. He holds a master's degree in business management with a specialization in finance from Gujarat University. He is an associate member of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India and has cleared the Uniform CPA Examination conducted by CPA Examination Services, USA. He has several years of private equity experience managing funds in India.
Presently, he is a director of WIP (India) Private Limited, which is the Indian subsidiary of Wayzata Investment Partners LLC, a United States based entity, where he is responsible for sourcing private equity investments in India.

MR. UDAY M. GORE

Nominee Director

Mr. Uday Gore is a Non-Executive, Independent Director of our Company. He has been associated with our Company since August 2017. He holds a bachelor’s degree in arts from Osmania University. Prior to joining our Company, he was working with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited.

KEY EXECUTIVES

MR. ASHOK RAJA

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Ashok Raja is the Chief Executive Officer of our Company. He has been associated with our Company since January 2012. He is responsible for implementation of all processes and overall management of our Company. He has received the Certificate of Competency as First Class Engineer (Motor) in 1975, and has completed the Marine Engineering Training Course. He is a member of the Indian Technical Sub-Committee of Det Norske Veritas and an associate member of the Institute of Marine Engineers (India). He has also been registered as a Technician Engineer CEI by the Engineers Registration Board since November 19, 1981. Prior to joining our Company, he held the position of Vice President at Essar Shipping and of President at HAL Offshore Limited.

MR. WARREN G. PINTO

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Warren Pinto is the Chief Financial Officer of our Company. He has been associated with our Company since February 2016. He is responsible for the financial functions and for managing the financial risks of our Company. He has obtained a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Mumbai and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Rochester. Prior to joining our Company, he worked with Thirdware Solutions Limited and QAD India Private Limited.

MR. JAY B. PAREKH

Company Secretary and Compliance Officer

Mr. Jay Parekh is the Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of our Company. He has been associated with our Company since August 2017. He is responsible for advising our Board in relation to compliance requirements. He has obtained a master’s degree in commerce from the University of Mumbai. He is an associate member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and holds an advance diploma in management accounting from Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Prior to joining our Company, he worked with Jaiprakash R. Singh and Associates, Company Secretaries.

CAPT. SUNIL GONDANE

Vice-President, Operations

Capt. Sunil Gondane holds the position of Vice President - Operations Management of our Company. He has been associated with our Company since February 2009, and he is responsible for daily operational management of all vessels. He has received the Certificate of Competency as Master of a Foreign Going Ship by the Government of India in 2008. Further, he has been certified as an executive cadet in the Training Ship ‘Rajendra’ in 1982. He has also attended various courses, such as a course on Marine Corrosion (Cause, Prevention and Protection), the Maritime Labour Convention Awareness Course conducted by the Indian Register of Shipping in 2014, and an Arbitration Course organized by the Indian Merchant’s Chamber in 2013. Prior to joining our Company, he held the positions of Additional Master and Master on various vessels.

MR. SALIM KADRI

Vice-President, Technical Management

Mr. Salim Kadri holds the position of Vice President - Technical Management of our Company. He has been associated with our Company since February 2010. He is responsible for technical matters of all vessels, is responsible for identifying vessel to be purchased and is in charge of all takeover formalities. He received the Certificate of Competency as Marine Engineer Officer Class I (Chief Engineer Officer) from the Government of India in 2005. He has completed various courses, such as Advanced Training of Crews in Fire Fighting in 1990, Specialized Tanker Safety Course conducted by the Shipping Corporation of India in 1994, the Medical First Aid course conducted by Dr. Ahluwalia’s Courses in 1998 and a training course in Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities conducted by the United Marine Academy in 1998. Prior to working with our Company, he worked at VShips Monaco.

CAPT. SANJAY GOMES

Vice-President, Commercial & Marketing

Capt. Gomes holds the position of Vice President – Commercial and Marekting in our Company. He has been associated with our Company since July 2015 and is responsible for chartering the vessels and coordinating with the charterers and insurance companies. He has obtained a bachelor’s degree in science (nautical science). Prior to joining our Company, he worked in Varun Shipping Company Limited. He has held the positions of Additional Master and Master in various vessels.

Capt. Alex Mathew

Asst. Vice-President, Commercial and Operations

Capt. Alex Mathew is a Master Mariner with over 20 years of experience in the maritime Industry. He sailed for 15 years on oil tankers, before diversifying into the shipping operations, logistics & marine insurance segments. Capt. Mathew has been involved with business handling & agency operations of chemical tankers and ISO tank containers for a global leader in the transportation and storage of specialty chemicals/bulk liquids. Prior to Seven Islands, He also worked with an emerging tanker owner, playing a pivotal role in fleet expansion, management & commercial operations. His experience also includes managing marine insurance for the fleet.

MR. NAYAN NILKANTH

Asst. Vice President, Commercial and Legal

Mr. Nayan Nilkanth holds the position of Asst. Vice President – Commercial and Legal in our Company. He has been associated with our Company since November 2017 and is responsible for optimizing chartering of product tankers and the sale and purchase of ships. He communicates with partners and brokers for business development and to acquire market intelligence. He has obtained a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Mumbai and a post graduate’s diploma in business management from the L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research, Mumbai. Prior to Seven Islands Shipping, he worked with the Great Eastern Shipping Company and the Arya Group.

MR. ASHWIN RAUT

Asst. Vice-President, Finance and Accounting

Mr. Ashwin Raut holds a Bachelors' degree in Commerce from the University of Mumbai and is qualified as a Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has substantial experience as a key member of executive management teams with several companies in diverse areas covering financial management, accounting and taxation. As AVP-Finance and Accounting, Mr. Raut leads the accounting and finance team at SISL and oversees day-to-day financial activities in the company like accounting, financing, forecasting, taxation and strategic planning.

MS. SMITHA PETER

General Manager, Fleet Personnel Manning & HRA

Ms. Smitha Peter holds the position of General Manager - Manning and HR & A in our Company. She has been associated with our Company since the date of incorporation of our Company, and is responsible for fleet personnel and human resources department. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in arts from the University of Mumbai.
